Presently (well, not presently but someday in the future on a planet far, far away) I will be writing a dissertaion. I would like some helpful software, because I’m the kind of girl who likes good software. So, I’m curious. Thanks . . .Zombie mentions OmniOutliner as a good tool for writing up research. I’m curious to know what others have used. If anyone is out there (is anyone out there?), I’m making a call for a comment. Please?

EndNote to manage citations.
It’s actually Scott who says OmniOutliner is a good tool. I’ve yet to give it a real workout.
But I think you do need something like EndNote to manage your citations / your research notes.
You’ve put a bug in my brain to write something on my own blog about systems for organizing research.
I have a ProCite database for my citations, but I don’t think they’ve been updating ProCite for a while now (I bought it a long time ago). Endnote appears to be the standard now – but I’m not sure what the major differences are. Anyone know?
Sorry about the misrepsentation, gZombie. Thanks for the advice.
What did you end up getting for citations? I haven’t shopped bibliographic software since 9/03, but at the time, I narrowed it down to 5 options and ProCite and EndNote were the clear finalists.
